If there’s one motion in webcomics that I can wholeheartedly throw my hat in the ring for, it’s actually utilizing the web real estate to make a comic something more than it could ever be in print. Between the lousy weather and the battered down stock market, it’s been a very mundane weekend. I’ve taken to, in large part, ignoring the day to day happenings in the stock market, and I think I’m a bit more sane for doing it. Blogging about many of the financial headlines these days doesn’t seem to interest me as much… Are we in a recession or not? Who cares? This follows the generic advice you find almost anywhere - cut fats and sugars, lose weight. The study identifies processed foods as the culprit for the fat consumption trend. 10th District Republican Patrick McHenry has been much in the news lately for his reference to a “two-bit security guard” who denied him access to a gym inside Baghdad’s Green Zone. McHenry, with a bad OPSEC-violating PR video promoting himself for reelection, may have hurt his chances of being reelected at all.

Dublin enjoyed another 18% increase in the average home sale price this week. There were 4 home sales this past week and all were existing home sales. This compares to 3 home sold in Pleasanton for the same period. It's encouraging to see this continued upward trend in the average home sale price in Dublin.

Sometimes you see a graph that tells the whole story. The one in The Wall Street Journal this morning showing the relative share of online advertising spending of the big players is one of them. (The data, from eMarketer, is below.) The big picture is that the online ad market is booming. But the big portals that dominated spending in the early part of the decade — AOL, Yahoo and Microsoft — are all losing share, even though all of them have been buying up advertising companies.
